Introducing the Palm House

The Palm House restaurant, based in a 400-year-old hop kiln at Runfold near Farnham, Surrey, is the ideal spot for anyone in search of breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion with your family or catching up with friends more informally, it offers an elegant yet relaxed setting thanks to its botanical, art deco-themed interior décor.

We’re the on-site eatery at The Packhouse, where dozens of traders offer vintage and antique lifestyle goods and more. So you can combine your Palm House visit with this retail experience for the complete trip out.

Versatile eating and drinking

  • If you just fancy grabbing a hot drink and a decadent fresh pastry, The Coffee Cafe offers outdoor seating.

  • Alternatively, hire one of our dining ‘pods’ for a meeting or afternoon tea. Our Deluxe pods have lighting, heating and an integral Bluetooth speaker. In warmer weather, enjoy your meal outside in our sunny courtyard.

What’s on the Palm House menu?

Explore some of our popular menu items.

Breakfast

It’s the most important meal of the day, after all. So tuck into a full English breakfast before 1130am – other morning options include smoked salmon, scrambled egg and sliced avocado on toast, or poached eggs with hollandaise sauce on an English muffin.

Lunch

In need of a spot of lunch? Check out our range of freshly cooked, tasty midday dishes, from burgers and fishcakes to salads, risotto, good old-fashioned fish and chips or substantial, filled ciabattas, served with fries or salad. If you’re after something lighter, our selection of small plates offers flavour-packed bites like chicken wings, hummus and pitta or sweet-potato fries.

But don’t forget to leave some room for pudding, whether that’s a warm chocolate brownie, cheesecake or a serving of delicious Meadow Cottage ice cream.

Afternoon tea

We’re also delighted to celebrate and continue the wonderful English tradition of afternoon tea. And, though we say so ourselves, it’s something we do incredibly well, with two great choices on the menu. Take your pick from a sweet or savoury menu, with the latter including a cheese scone with onion chutney, sandwiches and other non-sweet treats. If you have a sweet tooth, tuck into a scone with jam and clotted cream (which you put on first is up to you!) and other indulgences such as macaroons and jam tartlets.

Either way, we have an extensive line-up of teas to complete your afternoon refreshment. Join us from 2:30pm – and, for afternoon tea bookings, we’ll just need 24 hours’ notice.

We’re a licensed premises, serving a range of beers, wines and spirits. So why not enjoy a cocktail or sip on a glass of something chilled and sparkling?

We also cater for special diets, including vegan and gluten-free options.

Finally, if you need a unique venue for a special event, whether that’s a big birthday, a baby shower or a wedding, make us your first port of call. Our afternoon teas, for example, are ideal for baby shower and hen parties, whatever your budget and however many guests you’ve invited. Hire some of our mezzanine area, or go for exclusive private hire and enjoy the whole place to yourselves.

For wedding parties, our packages are available for all group sizes, whether you’re after an intimate, seated meal or grazing tables for a larger number of people. Whatever you decide, we’ll throw open the venue after-hours for the ultimate celebration.
